Dairy Stakeholders Workshop organised at GADVASU Ludhiana

Centre of Excellence for Dairy Skills in India (CEDSI) in collaboration with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana and Cattle feed manufacturing Associations in Punjab organised a Dairy Stakeholders Workshop on Opportunities and Challenges in Animal Nutrition at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana on December 6, 2023
The Centre of Excellence for Dairy Skills in India (CEDSI), an integral initiative of the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), operating under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, aims to enhance sustainability and prosperity in the Indian dairy sector.
Cattle Feed Manufacturers from the private sector in Punjab, representatives of Milkfed Cattle feed plants and Milk Unions, Markfed Cattle Feed Plants, Scientists of GADVASU, Officers of Centre of Excellence for Dairy Skills in India, Corteva, Kemin, Cargill, ITC, Excellence Enterprises, Advanta and many other companies took part in the discussions. Scientist of GADVASU imparted information on cattle feed composition and issues related to legal compliances. The representatives from cattle feed manufacturing industry expressed deep concern on the rising prices of raw material and quality. Experts on Fodder Production and Conservation suggested strategies for meeting the fodder scarcity through fodder enrichment.
Experts from CEDSI proposed to worked out strategies for GHG mitigation, building of database on cattle feed and raw material compositions and share the same with the experts for use in policy making. In general, the participants decided to fight against increasing levels of mycotoxins in feed and fodder.
This workshop is a pivotal step towards understanding the bottlenecks and opportunities in strengthening cattle feed manufacturing industry, quality improvement and awareness generation among the milk producers to increase milk productivity at lower costs. It promoted a meaningful exchange of knowledge and ideas between cattle feed industry, farmers, academia and professionals aligning with CEDSI’s mission.
This workshop was the 5th in a series of 6 Dairy Stakeholder Workshops covering all aspects of milk production and dairy industry.
